Screen Casting With Screencast-O-Matic

Screencast-O-Matic is video and audio screen capture software that allows to to record your screen as you use your computer. The tool can be used without having to download anything on your computer and uses your computer webcam and microphone. In my class, I have begun using this tool to review topics or to provide lessons on a snow day. My students say they like the lessons because they are able to stop the video and replay it when ever they want. I provide students with guiding questions so they know what is important from the video and they are required to hand them in as homework

The tool itself is very easy to use. The recording software opens in your browser (you don't have to download anything). You simply press record and it begins recording your screen. The free version allows you to record for 15 minutes. Once you are finished you can save the video on your desktop or upload it from the software directly to YouTube.     I really like this tool, I will definitely check it out. The sample videos look very interesting. I think it would be helpful for students who have speech problems because they can practice recording, and then hearing their own voices.
